About Us
In 2008, a small group of music enthusiasts came together to share their passion for singing. What started as a casual gathering quickly blossomed into a vibrant choir, exploring a wide range of musical styles—from 15th-century pieces to modern pop and jazz. At that time, we sang a cappella, making the most of our voices as we built our community.
In 2015 we were invited to perform as the core choir for the annual ‘People’s Messiah’ at Coriole Winery. It was here that we officially adopted the name Fleurieu Singers, and we’ve enjoyed a lasting partnership with Coriole ever since.
In 2017, we welcomed Jenny Donovan as our accompanist, which opened up exciting new possibilities for our choir. This allowed us to tackle larger works auspiced by the Big Sing, McLaren Vale. Over the years, we’ve had the joy of performing significant pieces, including Mozart’s Requiem (2017), the Faure Requiem (2018), Elijah (2019), and Verdi’s Requiem alongside the SA Youth Orchestra. We even took on Gilbert & Sullivan’s ‘The Sorcerer’ with the State Opera of South Australia in 2021! In addition to these major works, we host our own concerts featuring smaller chamber pieces from a diverse repertoire.
Under the capable leadership of Alex Roose, our choir members thrive in the immersive and uplifting experience of choral singing. We embrace the challenge of learning new repertoire, continually honing our vocal skills and creating beautiful music together.
